Sustainable fishing & best practice
New Wave has a firm policy to buy seafood from well-managed, sustainable sources in order to protect our oceans for the future.
Committed to protecting the marine environment
Wherever possible we buy fish that are line-caught by small dayboats to minimize the impact on the marine environment.
We are proud to say we have been approved by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) - a global organisation working with fisheries, seafood companies, scientists, conservation groups and the public to promote the best environmental choice in seafood. In accordance with our certificate, we maintain a chain of custody traceability from the fishing vessel through to the wild fish being delivered to your premises.
We also support the Responsible Fishing Scheme (RFS), an independent certification scheme designed to promote and recognise good practice in the fishing industry, and to ensure effective conservation and management of the living aquatic resources. Wherever possible, we give priority to vessels committed to the scheme.
Other environmental issues
As a company we do everything we can to minimise our impact on the environment. All our fish waste is sent for rendering and then gets recycled. We don't buy any polystyrene packaging, all our boxes and general waste is recycled and we have opted for a website instead of a brochure to save paper.
